The rural areas The region of Haute Matsiatra is indulating and compared to the urban area of Fianarantsoa, rather less dense populated. The people living in the rural areas are merchants, shop-keepers, business-people, functionaries of the local administration, teachers, local doctors, religious authorities, craftsmen and of course, farmers. The fertile soil is used exclusively for agriculture and production of local products. Unfortunately, the rural areas are marked by a lack of infrastructure and therefore a lack of security, social networks which also results in a lack of families and village income. |
